Eligibility Criteria for UGC-NET
1. Educational Qualifications
General/UR/General-EWS Candidates:
- Must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent in the following fields:
- Humanities and Social Sciences (including languages)
- Computer Science and Applications
- Electronic Science
- Refer to Appendix-V for the list of subjects.
- Must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent in the following fields:
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender Candidates:
- Must have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent.
2. For Candidates Appearing for Master’s Degree or Awaiting Results
- Candidates pursuing a Master’s degree or awaiting final year results can apply provisionally.
- Eligibility for JRF or Assistant Professor will be confirmed only after obtaining:
- 55% marks for General/UR/EWS candidates.
- 50% marks for OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender candidates.
- The Master’s degree must be completed within two years from the date of the NET result.
- Failure to meet these conditions will result in disqualification.
Age Limitation
1. Junior Research Fellowship (JRF):
- Maximum age: 30 years (as of 01 January 2025).
2. Assistant Professor:
- No upper age limit.
3. Admission to Ph.D.:
- No upper age limit.
