BPSC 70th CCE Pre Exam & Pattern

 

Preliminary Examination (Part-1)

  1. Exam Structure:

    • The Integrated Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination will focus on General Studies.
    • All questions will be of objective type (multiple choice).
    • Duration: 2 hours.
    • Total Marks: 150.
  2. Question Format:

    • Candidates are required to select one answer for each question from the provided multiple-choice options.
  3. Negative Marking:

    • There will be negative marking for incorrect answers.
    • Each wrong answer will incur a deduction of â…“ mark.
  4. Purpose of the Exam:

    • The preliminary exam is a screening test to shortlist candidates for the main examination.
    • The number of candidates selected for the main exam will be ten times the total notified vacancies.
    • All candidates who score the same cutoff marks within their category will qualify for the main examination.
  5. Syllabus:

    • The preliminary exam will cover:
      • General Science.
      • Current affairs of national and international significance.
      • Major features of Indian history and Bihar’s history.
      • General Geography.
      • Important geographical divisions of Bihar and its significant rivers.
      • India’s political and economic systems.
      • Key changes in Bihar’s economy post-independence.
      • India’s national movement and Bihar’s contributions.
      • Questions assessing general mental ability.
  6. Passing Criteria:

    • Candidates must pass the preliminary examination.
    • The minimum qualifying marks are set as follows:
      • General Category: 40%
      • Backward Class: 36.5%
      • Extremely Backward Class: 34%
      • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe, women, and candidates with disabilities: 32%
    • Candidates failing to achieve the minimum qualifying marks will be disqualified from the competition.

  • General Hindi (100 marks) - 30% passing marks required, but not counted for merit determination.
  • General Studies, Paper 1 (300 marks)
  • General Studies, Paper 2 (300 marks)
  • Essay (300 marks)
Optional Subject Selection Candidates must choose one optional subject from the following codes (04 to 37), which will be worth 300 marks. Each subject exam duration is three hours.

Additional Notes
  • Candidates who pass the preliminary exam will be required to fill a separate online application for the main examination.
  • The same mandatory subjects will apply to all posts in the combined main examination as for the 70th Combined Main Exam.
  • Different optional subjects will be provided for various posts, and candidates must select one.
  • Question papers will be available in both Hindi and English.
  • Answers for non-language subjects can be given in Hindi (Devanagari), English, or Urdu script, but not in other languages.
  • Candidates can provide English translations for technical terms if needed, but this will be subject to the commission's discretion.
  • Minimum qualifying marks set by the Bihar Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department and the General Administration Department must be achieved:
    • General Category: 40%
    • Backward Class: 36.5%
    • Extremely Backward Class: 34%
    • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe, women, and disabled candidates: 32%
  • For the personality test, the number of candidates called will be 2.5 times the number of vacancies. All candidates with the same cutoff marks will be selected for the personality test.

BPSC 70th CCE Personal Interview

 

Personality Test (Part-3)

Candidates who successfully pass the main examination will undergo a personality test worth 120 marks.

Participation in the personality test is mandatory for those invited; failure to attend will result in exclusion from the merit list used for final exam results.
